Day 18 of PLTW Notebook Coffee Table design and 8.4a
So we have to create a table that can join together and make it more stable with another table. This table to fit at least two people. We have a size and cost constraint. I believe we can surpass that and create a great coffee table design.I had created the wheel and my two teammates created the base of the top and the legs. We also have until Wednesday to create this.
You should use it when you've extruded a circular shape and their is a patter going around the face of the circle like a wheel for example that's when the pattern while be advantageous.
An offset is when you copy a sketch and you either make it larger or smaller than the original. It can be used for example when a certain sketch has layers you would use the offset tool.
Mate constrains two surfaces together while Flush aligns surfaces based on a common edge.
I would use Mate so the pin stays in the hole and won't come out.
A subassembly is a piece that's assembled but is going to be used for a larger assembly.
Technical sketching isn't as exact as CAD and CAD can provide more views in a shorter time frame than hand sketching does.
Detailed drawings are portable and if their is a mistake the problem can be fixed on site when showing someone. You would not have to go back home to your computer to fix all you would need is a pencil or pen and a Caliper.
8.4A
1.
Under what circumstances would it be
advantageous to pattern a component?
2. What
is an offset and how is it used?
3. What
is the difference between a mate and flush constraint?
4. What
constraint would you use to place a pin inside a hole?
5.
What is a subassembly?
6. What
advantages does CAD have over technical sketching?
7.
If dimensional information can be retrieved from
CAD part models, then why do engineers create detail drawings of parts?
