Juan Martinez-Day 11-PLTW Notebook
Today we are continuing with the automoblox vehicle parts. We created a grip, a hole pattern and other items that involve and don't involve the vehicle. These assignments seem like they are helping me understand more and more how to use CAD. I find it very useful and productive for me.
You would use the arch and lines tool to make the sketch and then you would have to sweep it afterwards to make it in a 3-d perspective.
a. The triangle wouldn't move because when rotated the triangle stays in the same spot.
1.
What 3D CAD functions could be used to create a
wire coat hanger?
2.
For each of the following, sketch a 2D shape and
an axis of rotation that you could use to model each of the following solid
forms using the Revolve function within 3D modeling software. Dimension each
sketch and indicate the axis of rotation that you would use. You may use
software to check your answers.
a. A
solid cylinder with a diameter of 3.5 in. and a height of 7 in. Be sure to
dimension the shape.
b.
A solid sphere using the Revolve function. What rotation angle would you use?
I would use a 180 degree rotation angle.
3.
For each of the following, describe the solid
form that would result from rotating the given shape about the axis of rotation
by the given rotation angle. Then sketch the resulting 3D shape and indicate
important dimensions.
a. The triangle wouldn't move because when rotated the triangle stays in the same spot.
b.So when rotated you will see what is essentially the right side of the shape. This is because the axis is on a construction line |
